About this program

The objective of this Agreement is for Public Safety Canada to provide one-time funding to the File Hills First Nations Police Service (FHFNPS) to support expenses related to the new police detachment. As Saskatchewan’s only self-administered police service, FHFNPS provides dedicated and culturally responsive policing to five communities in the File Hills area: Okanese; Peepeekisis; Carry the Kettle; Star Blanket; and Little Black Bear First Nations. Since 2016, the population in all five communities has shown steady growth and calls for service have increased by nearly 50%. FHFNPS is requesting funding to support expenses related to the new police detachment to improve service delivery for its member Nations and promote safer communities.
