About this program

This project aims to support Humanitarian Outcomes’ (HO) core research and analytical functions, while enhancing the overall availability and accessibility of reliable data within the humanitarian sector. It seeks to support HO to maintain and enhance its Aid Worker Security Database and Global Database of Humanitarian Organizations. These datasets provide the humanitarian sector with a comprehensive and rigorous source of open data on aid worker violence and build an empirical evidence base for analysis on changing security environments for aid operations. Project activities include: (1) improving the quality and accessibility of data on the safety and security of humanitarian personnel by supporting the Aid Workers Security Database and the Global Database of Humanitarian Organizations; (2) providing independent, evidence-based research for analyzing security, access, and coverage in high-risk environments; and (3) providing gender-disaggregated data for all major incidents involving aid workers to enable gender-sensitive analysis of trends in violence and risk exposure.
