About this program

Through this 51-month project, AnânauKatiget Tumingit Regional Inuit Women’s Association will increase its ability to prevent and address gender-based violence (GBV) against Indigenous women and girls. This will be achieved by strengthening organizational governance, by travelling to communities to engage with women and stakeholders to develop an advocacy plan, by exploring funding opportunities, and by increasing knowledge and integrating cultural practices in the organization’s operations. By the end of the project, the organization will have strengthened their capacity to prevent and address GBV against Indigenous women and girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people. With the supplemental funds and extension provided in early 2026, the AnânauKatiget Tumingit Regional Inuit Women’s Association will finalize their governance foundation by modernizing bylaws, defining roles, and integrating Inuit values. They will also enhance advocacy and leadership impact through community-based mentorship and guidance, and culturally grounded policy initiatives. Additionally, they will align executive procedures and policies by developing an ED guidebook, establishing operational standards, and strengthening GBV sector partnerships. Through this they will further advance Gender Equality.
