This project aims to improve nutrition outcomes for vulnerable mothers and children under 5 in Cambodia, Kenya, and Senegal. It supports cost-effective, nutrition-specific interventions through the health system to reduce child mortality and disability, improve children's cognitive and physical development, and protect women’s health and well-being. It seeks to strengthen Healthcare systems will be strengthened to respond to the needs of women and children and provide them access to life-saving interventions. Project activities include: (1) strengthening community-based screening and treatment models to make care more accessible to families; (2) training community health workers and local health providers to provide woman-centric counselling and support for pregnant women regarding vitamin supplementation; (3) promoting widespread educational campaigns providing culturally sensitive information about the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months with lactation support; (4) facilitating the adoption of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) in health facilities; and (5) developing comprehensive programs that provide continuous support and education to mothers during antenatal and postnatal periods.
