About this program

The Technical Assistance Partnership – Government of Canada project supports the Department of Justice Canada in deploying its lawyers and legal experts to build the capacity of national government entities responsible for legal systems and legislation in countries eligible for official development assistance (ODA). The project also aims to improve the well-being of the poorest, most marginalized and vulnerable populations by aligning with Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP) while contributing to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Project activities include : (1) supporting national government entities in partner countries to address the differentiated needs of women and men through gender-sensitive laws and regulations; (2) improving access to justice for women and girls; (3) strengthening legal systems and promoting reforms that eliminate all forms of discrimination; (4) supporting the protection of women's human rights; (5) raising Canadians' awareness of international development issues, including Canada's SDGs and FIAP, through public engagement activities; and (6) organizing technical visits to Canada. The project seeks to support 9 or 10 technical assistance initiatives over five years.
