On May 1, 2020, the Government of Canada banned 2,000 assault-style firearms and variants as part of its comprehensive strategy to tackle gun violence in Canada. Today, more than 2,500 makes and models have been banned. The Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program (ASFCP) provides fair compensation for eligible individuals who possess prohibited firearms and devices and participate in the program.
