Managing social impacts of climate change and low-carbon transition in South Africa

About this program

This project supports the Canadian sovereign loan to the Government of South Africa for the Just Energy Transition partnership, which aims to transition to a low-carbon economy and strengthen resilience to climate change. Project activities include: (1) reviewing existing public programs to improve access to quality services for people affected by climate-induced shocks; (2) re-designing programs to effectively support local economic diversification and skills training for workers; (3) supporting government officials to enhance their skills for managing the socio-economic impacts of climate change and transition to low-carbon economy; and (4) facilitating community participation in the Just Energy Transition.
