The contribution supports the operations of the Joint Steering Committee as established by the Interim Operational Agreement between Parks Canada and the Columbia Campfire Collaborative, relating to the management of Yoho, Kootenay, Glacier, and Mount Revelstoke national parks. The contribution supports the development of an Indigenous Guardian Program proposal with clear terms of reference and a timeline for implementation, including a pilot phase. This contribution builds capacity within 5 Secwépemc First Nations to document and share traditional knowledge passed down from Secwépemc elders to community members and youth on sustainable harvesting, processing/preparation and consumption of the Yellow Glacier Lily (Erythronium grandiflorum) bulbs as a food source, through a series of small cultural gathering events in the park and production of a short film that would provide Secwépemc community members with skill-building opportunities.
